Interactive surfaces made of karuun®

In karuun®, Motherson has found the ideal nature tech material to produce functional surfaces using organic raw materials.

And suddenly rattan is full of high-tech
New drive technologies to propel green mobility forward. How green can a car really be if the interior is mostly plastic? Motherson is looking into this question and discovered karuun® when searching for a plastic alternative for smart, interactive surfaces.

karuun® is made from rattan – a material that comes naturally equipped with unique properties: The plant’s capillary structure is almost entirely uniform, and thanks to a patented process, karuun can also be used in pioneering light and electricity conducting applications – karuun® conductive is currently being developed in the lab. What’s more, the nature tech material karuun® offers new possibilities in three-dimensional object design that were previously reserved to plastic.
