karuun® to introduce a carbon portfolio

From now on, karuun® is partnering with TREEO to remove carbon dioxide in a sustainable way.

To address climate change, we need to not only reduce CO2 emissions but also remove CO2 from the atmosphere over the long term. Joining the partnership is Pekana, a company based in Kisslegg that is known for its commitment to climate protection, just like karuun®.

“We believe that environmental protection can only be successful if it benefits local communities.” Felix Grüneberger, CEO. With this goal in mind, TREEO connects tree growers and Balancers. In the TREEO ecosystem, smallholders are valuable asset owners who actively participate in the global carbon market. They use the TREEO app to calculate the biomass and stored carbon of each tree with 95% accuracy. This verified data brings credibility and transparency to the voluntary carbon market.

“How can we scale up carbon removal and make reforestation a sustainable business for farmers? To address this challenge, we founded TREEO Fairventures Digital GmbH in 2021. This partnership allows us to scale up our reforestation and carbon removal efforts, while also supporting tree planters in their work.” explains Johannes Schwegler, CEO of the TREEO.

karuun® and Pekana want to follow this path and so are launching a carbon removal portfolio to help offset their emissions.
