Enhancing durability
Tests with dyes have shown that liquids with a low viscosity can penetrate to the level of rattan’s cell tissue. Thanks to our patented process, natural acetic acids can uniformly penetrate the material via the vascular bundles. This can slow down or even prevent mould from growing. Acetic acid alone, or in the form of vinegar, is one of the oldest and most widely used agents for protecting animal and human foods against bacteria, moulds and yeasts. karuun® proof will have a significantly better weather resistance than the natural material and will be tailored to the respective product life. Products made from karuun® proof could outperform tropical woods in terms of resistance to fungi and insects and thus replace environmentally harmful plastic products in the outdoor segment.
