The new NIO SUV ES7
Autonomous driving with home comforts

karuun® adorns the interior of the first self-driving SUV – a smart choice for elegant relaxation.

Truly successful companies don’t follow a vision. They become reality. Consequently, under the direction of CEO William Li, electric vehicle pioneer NIO is once again setting a new and futuristic course. The NIO ES7 is the first SUV whose design is fully geared towards autonomous driving. If you mull that over, you’ll realise that a coherent design includes an interior that is not only smart but exceptionally elegant and homely too; a second living room that features modern and natural elements for an open feel while also being a safe place to retreat.

Here is yet another perfect use of karuun® – and as with the ET7, in the ES7 a total of 14 parts feature the nature tech material karuun®. This design choice replaces plastic while also creating an unmatched, home-like feeling in three exclusive interior themes: Pamir Brown, Edelweiss White and Onyx Black. For a home on the go.

Museum of the Future – a building made of the future

Like a window into the world of tomorrow – also in terms of architecture and building materials. The Museum of the Future in Dubai is definitely worth (time)travelling to.

The Museum of the Future is regarded as the global centre and testing ground for the future challenges and opportunities of mankind. In contrast to a traditional museum, the visions, concepts and innovations that aspire to a better world of tomorrow are presented here. An ideal home for the bio-economic future material karuun® – especially on level 4, where the “Heal Institute” is lined with around 600 square metres of the nature tech material; this chapter of the museum shines a light on the challenges faced by the sensitive ecosystems of tropical forests. The WFH Desk project, which started life as part of a bachelor’s thesis, bridges the gap between the home and the home office in a remarkably clever and stylish way – it’s the office you can pack away. The WFH Desk is packed full of clever ideas, plus it’s made of the nature tech material karuun®. Creating sustainable workspaces (and jobs) in one fell swoop – neat!

karuun® in the heart of Munich

Ludwig Beck is one of Munich’s most prestigious department stores and it’s also leading the way in the use of sustainable materials.

​Unique in appearance and a trendsetter in all things sustainability, karuun® stripe is the ideal material for the women’s fashion section of the renowned Ludwig Beck department store. Joinery firm Lauinger fully embraced the design possibilities of the nature tech material karuun® stripe to create an architectural highlight and a completely new shopping experience. The raw material for karuun®, rattan, comes from Indonesia and relies on biodiversity. Actively supporting its cultivation therefore contributes to the protection of the planet’s rainforests and ensures a sustainable income for the local population.

The surfboard, reinvented

An organic alternative to plastic shouldn’t be fun for Mother Nature only, right? Thank You, karuun® surfboard!​

Incidentally, rattan needs the biodiversity of primary rainforests to grow; it cannot thrive in a monoculture and cannot be harvested by machine. The demand for this natural product therefore contributes to forest protection. One place where rattan is cultivated for karuun® is the Mentawai islands. karuun® surfboards make a vital contribution to preserving this super popular surf spot, while also securing long-term income for the island population since the rattan is harvested traditionally by hand. Shaka!

In a certain way, in the VISION AVTR Mercedes Benz has reinvented the car. An entire company flying the banner of sustainability: elobau turns to karuun® for the architectural highlights in their showroom.

Looking good, at the most attractive employer
elobau – found in a survey to be one of Germany’s best employers – has set its sights on supplying companies around the world with the best sustainably produced operating elements, machine safety, level measurement and sensor technology. In addition to an extensive standard catalogue, elobau also develops customised applications. Some even feature karuun®.

karuun® was also included in the company’s new extension. Together with f64 Architekten and Fendt Holzgestaltung, a futuristic interior aesthetic with a inviting feel-good factor was created – in perfect harmony with nature.
